Good afternoon, all,
Ms. Chapman sent me an official invitation to share with you. If you saw yesterday’s post, please check out the below for more
detailed information. I hope that many great connections are made as a result of more formally introducing her to our listserv. Enjoy!
Best regards,
Chris Benevich

We would love to have copies of books by Chicago publishers and authors for our Chicago Publishers Showcase.  Just to clarify,
we’re not actually selling books through this display; it is more an opportunity for marketing and exposure, though I do hope that
book sales will result from it. Here is the complete description:
Â
We are now in the process of creating a Chicago Publishers Showcase in the Cultural Center. It will be in the Randolph ground-
floor lobby, on either side of the marble staircase, and it will contain books and periodicals by Chicago-area publishers and
authors. Â
Â
The lounge will be a place where visitors can get a sense of the many publishing ventures that are happening in Chicago–and
explore some of the fascinating books, magazines, newspapers, journals, zines, and comics that are being produced here. Each
publisher will have its own space, so browsers can get a sense of its identity.  Visitors won’t be able to take books out of the
area; they will just be invited to browse or to read them there. However, we will be highlighting 6 Chicago publishers per month in
the Cultural Center store, which is right next to the Lit Lounge site. Also, a computer will also be built into the Lounge, so people can
look at Chicago’s literary websites and blogs, and order books that are displayed from publishers’ websites or Amazon.Â
Â
I am now requesting donations of books from publishers and authors for this project.  To date approximately 1500 books have been
donated, with each publisher or author donating 1-100 titles (of one copy each). If you would like to participate, please just send
your books to me at the address below. Please also email me your contact information, so that I can be sure to invite you to the
launch of the showcase.Â
Â
I hope that this project sounds like a worthwhile way to expose Chicagoans and visitors to your work. Please just let me know if you
have any questions–about this or our larger publishing initiative.Â
