Yes, we’ve heard it all before, but these 9 tips (from Natural Health magazine) are a good reminder.
  1. Switch to CFL bulbs
  2. Get a power strip
  3. Use reusable cups and utensils
  4. Think before you print (if you must print, utilize both sides of the paper)
  5. Recycle or reuse packaging (boxes, bubble wrap, mailing envelopes, etc.)
  6. Ask your company to recycle
  7. Buy vintage or used office furniture
  8. If you buy new, look for green materials
  9. Buy air-clearing houseplants

Good tips! Here are some more:

Use rechargeable batteries and when they die (in Chicago) drop them off at your local library or Walgreens

Send old CDs and tech trash to Green Disc (www.greendisk.com)

Send styrofoam to Polyfoam Packers in Wheeling

UICycle Waste Reduction & Recycling program has a yearly tech trash dropoff (312) 996-8858

Drop off your corrugated cardboard at a dedicated cardboard collection box which will more reliably recycle it than if mixed in with your blue bag paper
